The Lesson I Learnt
I am so grateful and blessed for this experience that I've had these past couple of weeks. The biggest lesson I've learned once again is that of the power of prayer (prayers from all of you) and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. As I laid in the hospital bed and was asked to walk for the first time after surgery I thought to myself "I can't do this" and when asked to try I failed, but when I had my family and the help of the nurse and told myself "I can do this, the Lord will help!", I succeeded. “Look unto me in every thought doubt not, fear not." D&C 6:36.
My First Surgery was a SUCCESS!!!!
17th February 2015. SURGERY WAS A SUCCESS!!! Everything went well. They went in and cut the herniate disc and then closed everything back up. I have now about 50% of the disc in my spine. I can now walk and feel no pain or dumbness down my right now. I now need to wear a back brace as I walk or sit. I am only allowed to sit for 30 minutes at a time but I can now walk! Yay! I’m so happy! A true blessing of Heavenly Father.
Herniated Disc?!
After many, many weeks of having lot’s of lower back pain, pain and dumbness down my right leg and being unable to walk my mom and I went in to the LDS Hospital in SLC to get an MRI of my lower back. It turns out I have a Herniated Disc in the disc right above the tail bone. As you can see from the picture above, a normal disc are those freebie like white things as you can see the last one is completely out and is actually pinching down those nerves (those fluid like white stuff.) See the cursor on the screen. 9th February 2015.
11th February 2015. I had the blessing of getting a call from a back surgeon who had an appointment fall through and I was able to get an appointment to see a back surgeon who could tell us what needed to happen to resolve this injury.
12th February 2015. I went in to see the back surgeon. He came into the room, looked at the MRI and looked right back at us and said “I’m sorry but there’s nothing we can do to help but do surgery. As you can probably imagine my mom’s heart (who was accompaning me) fell and she got super emotional. Nevertheless, the surgery was scheduled for that upcoming Tuesday the 17th of February 2015.
